Having their car in perfect conditions is the dream of all car owners. We all want our car to work perfectly and also look great, however this is not always possible.
Some degree of car paint deterioration is inevitable. After all, your vehicle is exposed to the elements most of the time. But being aware of the factors that affect the paint of your car is a good way to limit the damages.
Bird Droppings
This is a common occurrence, and you may even take it with humor. However, bird droppings are highly acidic and can cause your paint to chip off. Act as soon as you can when you detect them. When you clean them, keep in mind that bird droppings may contain seeds and berries that can cause further damage to the paint. Try not to drag the droppings when you remove them and use a lifting motion instead.
Sunlight
Sunlight is next to impossible to avoid when you’re on the road, but it’s one of the most important factors that cause your paint to fade. Ultraviolet (UV) light oxidizes your car paint, giving it a worn out look. In order to limit the impact of sunlight on the paint of your vehicle, wash it and apply wax regularly.
Splattered Insects
As bird droppings, splattered insects are acidic, and if left unattended they may etch into the paint of your car. Act quickly when you detect them, since if the stain accumulates dust, it becomes harder to clean. To remove these stains, use water and a microfiber cloth. If the stain is particularly persistent, spray it with a mix of water and dish soap and then rub it with the microfiber cloth.
Stones
Loose stones, gravel and pebbles can inflict serious damage to your car. They can penetrate your car’s paint all the way into the body, exposing the metal. Once exposed, the metal is susceptible to corrosion, which in turn may lead to holes.
