Cleaning your car is a process that takes time and dedication. Only a professional can detail your car in a way that guarantees the best results. However, there are some car detail tips you should keep in mind to make things easier when you clean your car yourself.
Choose the Right Time and Place
Choosing the appropriate time and place is essential when it comes to washing and waxing your car. In both cases, make sure to find a spot in the shade. Washing on your car under the sun may dry the water and soap too son, leaving water spots. Sun can also cause the wax to cake onto the body of your car, potentially damaging the paint.
Start at the Top
When you wash your car, make sure to start at the top and then work your way down. This way you’ll avoid rubbing the accumulated dirt and crud against the paint, which can cause scratches. Also, the lower parts of your car are the dirtiest, so it makes sense to give them a special treatment. This applies specially to your tires and rims.
Clean Those Hard-to-Reach Spots
The interior of your car is filled with tight angles that may be hard to reach. Those areas end up becoming magnets for dust, lint, and all types of debris. To clean those areas arm, yourself with wood skewers and cotton swabs. With these simple tools, taking care of air vents, buttons and controls won’t be a problem.
How to Clean Your Cup Holders
Cup holders are tricky spots to clean. They tend to accumulate dirt and dust and some of their angles can be difficult to reach. To clean them, put an old sock over the bottom of a cup that fits tightly into the cup holder. Then spray it, put it into the cup holder, and twist.
Let it Dry
Washing your car is great but driving while your vehicle is still wet is not a wise decision. Moist tends to catch dust, so wait until all the parts of your car are dry before getting on the road. Consider that some parts, like the rims, may be slower to dry (and more so if they are the last part you wash). So take your time and wait until no part is wet before driving your car.
