For many people, their car is their pride and joy. Aside from buying a house, a car is a big investment and should be taken care of as much as possible. Making sure the engine is in good shape is half the job, the other half is keeping that nice finish looking like the day you bought it. One way of making sure your cars paint remains in good shape is to know what can hurt it.
First and foremost is the sun. Without the sun there would be no life on earth, so we need it. Unfortunately, it can do a lot of damage to a cars paint job. Paint has pores like your skin and in the hot sun the pores expand and can absorb more dirt and moisture. For this reason, it’s a good idea to park your car in the shade whenever possible and wash it regularly.
Birds droppings can really damage a beautiful paint job. Having the birds around is nice, but they often leave unwanted presents we can do without. Bird droppings are highly acidic and can erode paint and clear coat paint finish. Keeping a good coat of wax on the paint is about the only thing that will help keep your paint safe from bird droppings.
Sap from trees is another one of those things that can’t be helped. Tree sap can not only stain your paint but is a magnet for other things like dirt and grime. Just wash your car as soon as you can after noticing tree sap. A good coat of wax helps too.
If you’re lucky enough to live at the beach or visit the beach regularly you must take extra care with your car paint. The salt ocean air will cut down on the shine of your paint. Make sure to wash your car regularly and use a good wax for maximum protection.
