Spring is the season to explore the outdoors and embark on long car rides with friends and family. However, as you do this you want your car’s paint to be protected. That’s why today we bring you some tips to care for your ride’s exterior this spring.
Wax Your Car
While spring is an amazing season, it’s not exactly car-friendly.
From pollen to splattered bugs, all types of pollutants are lurking in the warm breeze, ready to wreak havoc on your car’s paint.
The simplest way to protect the exterior of your car is by applying a coat of wax.
Automotive wax creates an extra line of defense against damaging agents, keeping your car pristine even during long spring drives.
Cover Your Car
With so many threats to your car’s paint floating around during spring, it makes sense to keep your vehicle covered as much as possible.
If you have a garage or a carport, this is rather easy to do.But you have options even if you don’t have a structure where to store your car.
A car cover adds a couple of minutes to your daily routine, but it helps extend the life of your car’s paint as well as that of other components of your car that are particularly exposed to the elements, such as your dashboard and windshield.
Act Fast
In spring you have to act even more promptly than usual if you want to protect your car’s paint.
Things like bird droppings, tree sap, pollen, and splattered bugs can accumulate fast on the body of your car if you are not careful.
The longer you wait to remove these substances, the greater the damage they can cause. When these stains cake onto the surface of the car, they’ll bond to the paint, leaving noticeable marks when removed.
To avoid this, keep a bottle of water in your car, along with a mild soap solution and rinse stains as soon as you notice them. For tree sap, you’ll also need a can of bug and tar remover or rubbing alcohol.
Remember that while these tips cover only the exterior of your car, other good ideas for spring maintenance include changing your air filter (this way less pollen will get into the cabin), rotating your tires, and topping off the fluids of your car.
